Everyone knows how pain can restrain and impair the quality of our lives. What is not as well known, however, is to what degree the pain originates from subconscious and destructive behavioural patterns.

People all over the world have through the Alexander technique learned to get rid of problems such as back pain, tense neck and shoulders, reoccurring headaches, whiplash injuries, sport injuries, or strain injuries such as RSI or tennis elbow.

A list of this type can be misleading: the Alexander technique does not work with specific symptoms, but with the organism as a whole. The primary purpose of the Alexander technique is not to "cure" anything whatsoever - but rather to show you the way how to become aware of when you hurt yourself.

The main part of the repetitive strain injuries that we view as an unavoidable part of aging, can demonstrably be avoided if the individual learns to handle him or herself in a less destructive way.

Through the Alexander technique you will learn to identify and change patterns of behaviour that lead to problems. Because of the indirect procedures of the technique it is not unusual that pupils report on getting rid of problems over and above the ailments that lead them to the Alexander technique in the first place.

It is usual that the pulse will stabilize as a result of a lower state of tension in the body; the breathing will deepen and become freer when the muscles surrounding the ribs are allowed to move freely, and through this process the whole body will receive more air. Many people experience a clearer thinking, and that the digestion works better when the torso starts to expand.

If you have a specific question regarding any of this please don't hesitate to send us an email!
